GlockApps CEO Alex Arnaut’s Interview with DesignRush: Why Email Authentication Matters

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes

We are excited to share that our CEO, Alex Arnaut, recently gave an insightful interview to DesignRush, a leading B2B marketplace connecting businesses with top agencies. If you are in email marketing or any other field and face email deliverability issues, this conversation will definitely come in handy and help improve your results.

The Importance of Email Authentication for Business Security and Deliverability

In this interview, Alex, with 15 years of experience in the tech industry, explains why email authentication is key for any business that wants to prevent security threats like phishing and spoofing, as well as improve email deliverability. He emphasizes the importance of using tools like GlockApps to monitor your email performance and authentication records: “Today, global security organizations require businesses and strongly recommend that all domain owners, regardless of company scale or industry, set up proper authentication configurations to prevent malicious activity as cybersecurity is crucial for everyone. Deploying a DMARC protocol offers many advantages: full domain control, email flow regulation, and protection against phishing and spoofing attempts.

You can easily check out today’s requirements for authentication setup for business domains worldwide and almost everywhere you will find the rule that DMARC policy should be set to “Quarantine” or “Reject”, where “Quarantine” would mean that the server should treat unauthenticated email as potential spam and “Reject” would tell to block such message completely.”

In a conversation about how email authentication contributes to a brand’s market presence, customer trust, and increased brand awareness, Alex noted: “Email authentication is required to obtain a BIMI Record. BIMI Record provides the opportunity to add a favicon of your brand logo to emails so they would stand out in recipients’ inboxes. This feature can also positively impact your deliverability since it’s a sign of a legitimate sender for ESPs like Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft. One of the conditions for BIMI Record is to have your DMARC policy set to Reject. And by the way, starting September 27 this year, Google enabled BIMI for Android and iOS devices, allowing brands to stand out even more. However, to implement these protocols is only a first step, it is also important to have automated authentication records monitoring to ensure their uptime. With GlockApps you can do it without effort.”

A Case Study on Proper Email Authentication Based on GlockApps’ Experience

Alex also provides a practical case study based on GlockApps’ experience demonstrating the impact of proper authentication on inbox placement and overall email performance: “We faced a problem when we added a new email-sending domain, forgot to set up an SPF record in the authentication settings, and sent up to 200 emails. Almost all of our emails ended up in the recipient’s spam folders, and we had a high spam rate. After testing and identifying the problem, we made the correct settings and the situation started to improve within the first week. You can see the results in the screenshots – without an SPF record and 6 days after the proper setting. Therefore, our sincere advice is based, so to speak, on real events, to set up authentication on time to protect your reputation, security, and effective results.”

How GlockApps Helps Overcome Email Deliverability Challenges

Talking about the biggest pain points of companies when approaching GlockApps, Alex clarifies how our service helps overcome the main challenges: “A lot of businesses worldwide are massively facing email deliverability issues and high spam rates. Unaware of where their emails end up in the recipients’ mailboxes, they worry about the sender’s reputation and strive to improve the effectiveness of their email marketing. The main GlockApps’ goal is to provide customers with a complete picture of email deliverability and authentication in a detailed report and instruct them on fixing existing or potential issues. If you notice a decrease in open rates, low response rates, or no replies from your recipients at all, these signal that you should test your emails for spam and we are happy to assist you most effectively.”
