The well-known email marketing platform Mailchimp offers a stand-alone service called Mailchimp Transactional Email. Prior to being rebranded by Mailchimp in 2016, it was known as Mandrill. MailChimp Transactional Email can be used to send order confirmations, password reset requests, and other transactional emails.
Mailchimp Transactional Email allows you to send emails via the SMTP server, which means you can easily integrate it into a third-party application.
In GlockApps, you can connect a mailbox using the MailChimp Transactional Email’s SMTP settings. The connected mailbox can then be used to configure automatic tests for your transactional emails.
Below are the steps to connect a mailbox using the MailChimp Transactional Email’s SMTP settings:
In your account, go to Inbox Insight -> Connected Mailboxes.
Click “Connect New Mailbox”.
Enter the mailbox name. It can be any name that will help you recognize the mailbox on the list.
Choose the integration mode as “Custom SMTP” and complete the fields in the form:
From name: your name or organization name that will appear in the “From” field.
From email: your email address
SMTP server: smtp.mandrillapp.com
Port: 25, 587, or 2525
Security protocol: none (works as STARTTLS)
SMTP username: Mailchimp doesn’t use the SMTP username to authenticate your request, but it’s recommended that you use your Mailchimp account’s primary contact email as the SMTP username
SMTP password: any active API key for your account as your SMTP password.
You can find your SMTP credentials on the SMTP & API Info page in your Mailchimp Transactional Email’s account.
To test and save the connected Mailbox, click “Continue with Custom SMTP” or continue with configuring the Header Settings and Proxy Testing settings.
When you are done with the settings, click “Create Proxy Address.”
If the entered SMTP settings are correct, the connected mailbox will be saved and the proxy email address will appear near it. The proxy email address can be used for smart tests. Also, the connected mailbox can be used for automatic tests for testing of your transactional emails sent by MailChimp on auto-pilot.
